Description
ukkay (pronounced ohk-kei) is an old former plantation house. Recently restored and refurbished, it is now my home that invites those seeking a calm and peaceful place away from noise and busyness to refresh, rejuvenate and reconnect with the nature that surrounds. Enjoy rustic simplicity with a dash of modern comfort.
The property includes 2 acres of open green space that is slightly hilly with a simple and easy trail for a walk or run. The Sunrise Deck is perfect for practising yoga or for a picnic. With minimal light pollution, it is possible to stargaze on a clear night.
The house is rustic and simple, yet comfy and cosy. The living area upstairs is breezy with rugs, cushions and my favourite rattan rocking chair (which you are welcome to settle in), perfect to laze in all day. From this comfort, you can try spot hornbills and kingfishers or just lay back and listen to the rustling of the trees in the wind. There is a small collection of books that you are welcome to enjoy while you're here.
The bedroom, located upstairs, is minimalist and cosy with green views from the window.
At ground level, the kitchen is fully equipped for your convenience. The dining area is spacious with a unique dining table that my friends and I made using reclaimed wood from the old kitchen walls. Toilets are modern and there is a hot shower, both also located at ground level.
All rooms and areas are fan only; there is no need for air-conditioners as the house is usually naturally cool.
